Mojtaba Khamenei engaged in war decisions despite injuries - Reuters

Apr 11, 2026, 08:52 GMT+1

Iran’s new supreme leader Mojtaba Khamenei is engaged in decision-making on major issues including the war despite serious injuries, three people close to his inner circle told Reuters.

They said Khamenei was taking part in meetings with senior officials via audio conferencing and remained “mentally sharp” as he recovers.

He suffered severe facial and leg injuries in an airstrike that killed his father earlier in the conflict, with one source saying his face was disfigured.

Khamenei’s condition and whereabouts have not been publicly confirmed since the attack.

Iran-US talks in Pakistan depend on PM meeting - Guards media

Apr 11, 2026, 08:45 GMT+1

Talks between Iran and the United States in Islamabad depend on earlier meetings with Pakistan’s prime minister and could take place later on Saturday, Iran’s IRGC-affiliated Tasnim news agency reported.

The report said the Iranian delegation would meet the prime minister at 1 p.m. local time and that whether negotiations go ahead would depend on those discussions.

It added the talks were planned as a one-day meeting and that reports suggesting they would last several days were not accurate.

Vance plays key role in setting up US-Iran talks in Islamabad - CNN

Apr 11, 2026, 06:48 GMT+1

JD Vance has played a central role in pushing the United States and Iran toward talks set to begin in Islamabad, a senior Pakistani source told CNN.

The source said Vance helped bring both sides to the table as part of efforts to reach a diplomatic solution to the conflict, with negotiations expected to start within hours.

The person familiar with the process said talks could take several days to secure a ceasefire, adding that Pakistani officials hope to persuade Vance to remain in the country to support the effort.

Separately, a senior regional source said Iranian officials have little trust in Steve Witkoff, who is part of the US delegation.

The source said Witkoff led earlier rounds of negotiations that ended after US strikes on Iran, which hurt confidence among Iranian officials.

Donald Trump is overseeing the current diplomatic push, with US officials seeking to restart talks despite tensions between the two sides.
