US and Israel chose to blow up diplomacy, Araghchi says

Jun 22, 2025, 09:41 GMT+1

Tehran remained at the negotiating table while Israel and the United States blew up ongoing diplomatic efforts through military action, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Sunday.

“Last week, we were in negotiations with the US when Israel decided to blow up that diplomacy. This week, we held talks with the E3/EU when the US decided to blow up that diplomacy,” Araghchi wrote.

“To Britain and the EU High Rep, it is Iran which must ‘return’ to the table. But how can Iran return to something it never left, let alone blew up?”

"Israel’s economy and military standing have collapsed," he added, warning that "any miscalculation would carry severe consequences."

Military infrastructure at Isfahan Airport was also targeted to prevent further use by the Iranian Air Force, the military said.
